This is the official web site of the WLCU - Edmonton chapter.

The World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) is an international, secular, non-denominational, non-profit organization sponsored by the Government of Lebanon in cooperation with Lebanese emigrants abroad.

The Edmonton Chapter is made up of membership of Lebanese Canadians and a volunteer executive.  Together we organize and participate in many activities locally, nationally and abroad. 

To help the Lebanese community by minimizing the inconveniences and financial burdens that have been caused by the absence of a local Lebanese consulate in Alberta, Mr. Nizar Ali, the president of WLCU-Edmonton, has received authorization from the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affair and Emigrants and from the Lebanese Embassy in Ottawa as an Official Witness for fingerprints and for assisting in the preparation of Passport application of Lebanese emigrants wishing to apply or renew their Lebanese passports.  The service will be provided at no additional charge to the applicant over and above the fees that are required by the Lebanese Embassy to process such applications.

الى الراغبين بتجديد جوازات السفر اللبنانية

تسهيلا لمعاملات اللبنانيين الراغبين بتجديد أو الحصول على جوازات سفر لبنانية كُلف السيد نزار علي رئيس فرع الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في أدمنتون مهمة الإشراف والمصادقة على صحة التوقيع على بطاقات التعريف والبصمة وذلك بتكليف رسمي صادر عن معالي وزير الخارجية والمغتربين فوزي صلوخ والسفارة اللبنانية في كندا.

وعليه فإننا ندعو جميع إخواننا اللبنانيين المتواجدين في هذه المنطقة، تسهيلاً لمعاملات تجديد جوازات سفرهم وتخفيفاً لتكاليفهم، أن يوقعوا ويبصموا على بطاقات التعريف أمام السيد نزار علي دون أي تكلفة مالية، وذلك عوضاً عن التوقيع أمام كاتب عدل رسمي.

Disable Cluster Bombs. Not People:          

WLCU – Edmonton in partnership with Mines Action Canada, has been working on a campaign to ban the use of cluster bombs.  In the last 20 years, cluster bombs have been used in populated areas in countries like Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq and recently in Lebanon.  The devastating impact of these weapons lasts years after the cessation of hostilities. Civilians are still been victimized by the unexploded bomblets everyday.  In south Lebanon, it is estimated that over 1 million unexploded submunitions contaminated villages and farm land.
